(Deepavali)

hafez

hafez
Khaje Shams ad-Din Mohammad Shirazi, the great lyric poet, known as Hafez was born in Shiraz and died in this city in 1389 or 1390.
He turned to learn the Quran, Arabic literature and humanities when he was young and became one of the great men of his time in the fields of interpretation, theology, theosophy and literature.
Although Hafez was a master of ode, couplet and quatrain, his fame is because of his sonnets. These sonnets are considered the soul of Persian ghazals, which are the manifestation of deep human thoughts represented in beautiful words in a unique poetic form.
Hafez's fame has gone far beyond the boundaries of Persian speaking countries for his poems have been translated into several languages and many great scholars have admired him.As far as we know about 64 years after the death of Gafez a dome was built over his grave with a pool in front of it which was filled with Rokna's water.Karim Khan Zand had a construction built over the grave of Hafez including a hall with four high stone columns. There was a garden in front of this construction.
A marble gravestone was put on top of the grave, which is still there. During the 160 years after Karim Khan's reign this construction was repaired several times by different generous people until 1936, when thanks to the activities of Ali Asghar Hekmat the present construction was designed by Andre Godard and built based on the architecture of Karim Khan's period.
This mausoleum is the shrine of several pilgrims from nearby and far away places. Some of the Persian mystics and poets were buried next to it.There are a few rooms round the dome indicating the residence of Hafez during his lifetime.

iran (pasargad

pasargad
The city of Pasargadae is located 70 kilometers north of Takht-e Jamshid on the plain of Morghab.
Here there are some remains of the first capital of Achaemenids, which can truly be called the cradle of Irans documented history.
The name of the city has been derived from that of a Persian tribe, meaning The Camp of the Persians. Unlike Takht-e Jamshid Pasargadae is not located on a terrace.
It is composed of several separate and sporadic palaces in a vast park. Although the capital was later transferred to Takht-e Jamshid the ceremonies of coronation were held at Pasargadae so it never failed to be an important center. From the cultural viewpoint, too, Pasargadae is very significant. Cyrus the Great made the greatest and most powerful kingdom all over the world of the Persian nomads in the shortest conceivable period of time. He was also the founder of a new and splendid style in the art of architecture, which evolved in Takht-e Jamshid and became known as Achaemenid style. All the palaces of Pasargadae have been situated in the beautiful lush gardens. The most important remains found at Pasargadae are :Tomb of CyrusThe name of Pasargadae is always associated with that of the tomb of Cyrus.
This construction is located at the beginning of the Pasargadae complex. It is constructed of huge, white limestone blocks, without any window, resting on a rectangular, stepped plinth, with six receding stages. It has only one entrance door. In spite of its simplicity the tomb suggests the power and authority of the founder of Achaemenid dynasty. The GatehouseThere is a construction, located one-kilometer northeast of the tomb of Cyrus, which is supposed to be the entrance of Pasargadae.
The hall of this palace has eight soft and polished stone columns. The entire floor of this building is covered with two layers of white stone. The BridgeThe remains of a bridge across a stream have been found 150 meters west of the gatehouse.
Two stone walls had been built on both sides and there were nine stone columns on the bed of the stream. Apparently the bridge was a connective route between the gatehouse and the audience hall. The Audience hallThere is a palace with huge columns, 100 meters to the left of the bridge. The palace was used to receive the agents and nobles of different countries who came to see Cyurs the Great. The central hall of the palace had eight columns of which only one has wonderfully remained on its place since 2500 years ago.
Four doorways to the central hall were ornamented with relief.Cyrus Private PalaceThis palace is located 300 meters away from the audience hall. The design of the palace is like the letter H and its central hall is ornamented with 30 columns. The eastern iwan of the hall also has 40 columns.
There is an inscription in cuneiform on a wall of the iwan written in three languages the translation of which is : I am Cyrus, the Achaemenid king . The western iwan also had 24 columns. The walls of the palace and iwans were ornamented with a lot of relief, which are not left. It is supposed that this palace was the private palace of Cyrus the Great.
The other remains found at Pasargadae are the Solomons prison, Arg and chapel.

iran air

About IranAir
"Iranian Airways" was first established in May 1944 and commenced its first passenger flight right after the World War II from Tehran to holy city of Mashhad. Within a period of 17 years (1945-1962) this airline developed into a major domestic Route with a few international flights per week.In 1954 another private airline as "Pars Airways" was established.
Initially "Pars Airways" only undertook freight services to Europe. The geographical situation of Iran, expanding its spacious levels, relative remoteness of crowded areas from each other, lack of means of transportations either railways or roads, the need to initiate safe and fast connections to survey and governmental organizations, and the last but not the least, lack of an ordered equipment with high capacity to revive mutual aviation rights with other countries and also securing more welfare and comfort for Iranians, provided the conditions for the board of ministers to ratify a proposal suggested by road minister to establish a national Airline corporate on February 10th, 1961.
Following this decision, on February 24th, 1961 both "Iranian Airways" and "Pars Airways" merged to form a new airline as" IranAir" with the acronyms and the symbol of "HOMA" bird and this new airline commenced its activities in April 1962.
Covering the domestic aviation transportation needs accompanied by observing the safety principles and forming transportation services with neighboring and far-fetched countries, and also considering simultaneous communal contracts on commercial grounds and interests of the country were among the reasons to establish IranAir.

iran: Aali Ghapoo
Ali Ghapo or Aali Ghapoo is a grand palace in Isfahan, Iran. It is located on the western side of the Naghsh-i Jahan Square opposite to Sheikh lotf allah mosque, and had been originally designed as a vast portal.
It is forty-eight meters high and there are seven floors, each accessible by a difficult spiral staircase. In the sixth floor music room, deep circular niches are found in the walls, having not only aesthetic value, but also acoustic. The name Ali Ghapo, Turkish for "high gate", was given to this place as it was right at the entrance to the Safavid palaces which stretched from the Maidan Naqsh-i-Jahan to the ? Boulevard.
The building, another wonderful Safavid edifice, was built by decree of Shah Abbas the Great in the early seventeenth century.
It was here that the great monarch used to entertain noble visitors, and foreign ambassadors.
Shah Abbas, here for the first time celebrated the Now-ruz (New Year's Day) of 1006 AH / 1597 A.D.A large and massive rectangular structure, is 48 meters high and has six floors, fronted with a wide terrace whose ceiling is inlaid and supported by wooden columns.
